Kindergarten

I can’t believe it that the time for my little girl to start Kindy at the local school has come. It felt like only a month ago when I was thinking, oh I don’t need to worry about her schooling stuff yet, it’s a long way off.

Look now, she’s going to school! We will be busy buying school stuff for her like lunchbag, shoes, textbooks, stationeries, uniforms … and the list goes on.

It’s exciting to enter another phase of both her and our lives. Daddy’s girl is growing up that’s for sure.

Discount shopping

Ever since I discovered a discount outlet for good label clothings, my interest in making the most of my hard earned money has increased. How? Well by looking out for goods that are sold as over stocked, clearance or liquidation sale by any wholesale distributor out there.

Usually you can find these types of sale online which makes it even easier to shop. I often watch on TV how families saved hundreds and thousands of dollars by purchasing from discount outlets online. The products are not defective in anyway. Just overstocked, or perhaps a little dint or damaged packaging, that’s all. So why pay more?

Spring, where?

Yes where is the much anticipated lovely Spring season? It almost feels like it never arrived eventhough September 1st is supposedly the official first day of Spring. I am not exactly liking the wet and gloomy weather.

Oh well, just have to be patient for those beautiful perfect days to come so we could enjoy more outdoor activities. I am so glad our garden ie front, side and back is more or less established. No further work needed unlike in previous years, phew!

Addiction

It is sad to hear over and over again about young stars checking into rehab. Stars who were once role model to the kids ended up being the very kind of people parents do not want their children to idolise.

How many times have we read about Hollywood child stars going through non 12 step program as repeated in many gossip mags? How many times have we seen mug shots of stars taken by the police?

I certainly hope whatever rehab they checked into for any kind of addiction, would really help them for good. Perhaps achieving stardom at a tender age certainly puts a lot of pressure on people. It goes to show that fame and money do not always keep a person contented.

Centennial Park

It’s been almost a year since I went to Centennial Park and it was for one of my cricket match. Took my wife and kid to the park to meet her friends and their kids.

It was a great day out though a bit chilly towards the evening. Everyone had fun. If only it wasn’t so difficult to gather all families around and if only all of us lived much nearer to each other, we would make this outing more often.

Postcard flyers

We have been getting all sorts of flyers in our mail box since the day we moved to this home. Mostly from real estate agencies. Not surprising to get that many flyers since the cost of printing postcards are made very affordable these days that even small proprietor business could afford to advertise their businesses on postcards.

As a potential customer, I think postcard flyers are not a bad idea. It is not flimsy as opposed to those thin leaflets which I find annoying to handle. Anyway now that Spring is about to enter, I foresee receiving more flyers in the mailbox!

Prince of Persia

Just watched this movie. Not a bad story, love the special effects. I remember how I used to play this game on the computer decades ago! Gee who would have guessed that someday it would be turned into a movie like this?

Speaking of computer games, I have not been playing any since ages ago. Just too busy with work and all I felt like doing once I get home is just to relax and spend a bit of time with my little girl.

Coupon shopping

My wife often tells me how in some countries, one could actually save a couple of hundreds or more from the grocery bill each month with the clever use of home everything coupons. She told me how some people actually carry a folder of coupons each time they went grocery shopping. She saw it on an episode of Oprah.

We both agree that the coupon system where we are is nothing like that of the other country. Here we do not get many useful coupons at all. If any, it’s ones like pay 3 nights get 1 night free at a hotel. Grocery coupons? Hmm forget it, there is hardly any.

Lawn

I guess it’s high time I mow the lawn. Believe it or not, our lawn hasn’t been mowed since the beginning of Autumn, that’s like 3 months ago. No the grass didn’t grow very high because it kinda withers during winter.

It’s just that so much had taken place in the time leading up to Autumn that since it was already Winter, I just let it be.

But now that the weather is warming up, the grass will be growing tall. Got to mow it before it becomes an eyesore around the block.

Mufti day

For some reason I no longer just wear a t-shirt and jeans on mufti days anymore. I go for a casual shirt and jeans instead. Does this have to do with age, I wonder? Anyway, looking at the fashion available in the market today, would I be too old to shirts from the coogi clothing line? Bet my workmates would be the first to laugh if I wear anything that does not quite look right for my age and fatherly figure. Hmmm.

Oh to be young again – that’s right, it’s not just women who’d wish to turn back the clock. I do too at times.

I can’t wait for my overseas shopping and eating trip with my girls.
